I discovered Made Good recently at the recent Seoul Food Expo. I didn’t have high expectations for the Expo at first as I mentioned in my blog, but I was so impressed! In particular with the International Pavilion which had a lot of new brands and product lines not available in Korea yet.
Made Good caught my eye and I ended up spending probably the longest at their booth. The rep was so lovely and helpful and introduced all of their products to me. After sampling some of their granola minis, I was sold.
All of Made Good products are free from the major allergens. That means no soy, dairy, wheat (gluten), peanuts, tree nuts, egg, sesame, and fish/shellfish. They are certified gluten free and naturally vegan! There is no added sugar, they are low on the glycemic index, have no artificial flavourings, they’re organic, non GMO, and if it couldn’t get any better, each product contains one full serving of vegetables, from either spinach, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, beets or shiitake mushrooms.
They are almost too good to be true! Except they’re not. After hearing about everything they’re exempt from, I thought the products might be dry or lack flavour. I was wrong. Their granola bars are so moist and so delicious! They may actually be the best granola I have ever had!
The flavours include Strawberry, Chocolate Banana, Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Chip, and Mixed Berry (not pictured.) I thought Chocolate Banana was pretty unique and it was definitely good, but the banana flavour was actually a little strong for me. I can’t decide what my favourite was because the other three are so good, but I think it’s a tie between Apple Cinnamon and Chocolate Chip. They are both so decadent and good!
From the same line are the granola minis. Which are a super cute and easy to grab snack. Although I prefer the bars, I can definitely see the appeal of these for young kids. The mini’s are a bit on the drier side than the granola bars, but I still really enjoyed them. Especially Apple Cinnamon. The flavour is so nice!
I also really liked the Mixed Berry which I didn’t get to try in bar form.
Made Good also (brace yourself) makes rice crispy squares! I can’t remember the last time I had a rice crispy square and was so excited about this! I hid it in the back of my cupboard so I wouldn’t eat it right away but it only ended up lasting four days before I dug it out.
The bar is quite soft so it got a bit crushed in my bag of other items from the Expo. Other than that, it had really nice flavour and the rice is very crisp. It’s not quite as chewy as a regular rice crispy square but it’s probably due to the lack of marshmallow which would make the bar a lot less healthy anyway. So it’s a really yummy and light alternative. The bar also has a lovely vanilla flavour which I loved.
Made Good also has a paleo line which is amazing! Unfortunately they didn’t have samples for me to try but if the granola is any indication, my guess is that they’re delicious too.
The rep told me that their products are now being served on a few major airlines which is so amazing to hear. I can never have airplane snacks and it just make so much sense to have an allergen friendly version served. I am so happy and proud of the company and what they’re doing. I even saw Made Good products being sold at Green Common in Hong Kong when I was there. I can’t wait until they’re sold in Korea too!
